Mom was right.  Black for this one.  Doors were hell to get off but after enough goop I could find the screw holes.  I am going to leave the top doors off.  I will put the bottoms back on after hinges and the drawer will be a  fake drawer.  The drawer inside was demolished so I suggested a fake drawer front.  That works for me.  Stay tuned will be done soon.
Well I could not get my go to guy to fix this fast enough soooo....  I cut two pieces of wood I had under the house left over from another project and tried to make the part that holds the axel.  I cut dowels I purshased to hold the wheels on.  One more piece to cut and put on to make the cart stand up right then ready for some paint.  All in a days work.  :)

Had a very good day today at the Thieves Market.  Bench storage seat sold.  Black tapestry chair Sold.  And some other items.  Now to fill it back up again.

Here is another piece I will be working on.  Mom purchased this at a thrift store.  It is an old shaving stand.  Very nice but needs some work.  So I am going to try to be a bit creative with this one for her.  She decided in place of what used to be a mirror at the top she wants a picture.  The mirror was in such bad shape I removed it as well as the veneer wood that framed it.   So lets see what I can come up with.

So today while out I ended up at the Pink Flamingo Thrift shop.  Kim had this nice little sturdy bench with storage.  UGLY color.  Hated that, but really liked the seat.  So she cut me some slack on her 44 dollar price.  Thanks Kim!   I made a stop by the store for a few items and decided to check paint colors.  I did not see anything that caught my eye but I did find these little sample bottles of paints.  I found this color I thought was nice if it were mixed with some white.  So I bought two and decided to experiment mixing my own paint.  I came home and unloaded and started to work.  And I must say I am very pleased with the piece.  Looks like a seller to me!  Of course I went with the aged look.  I really like it.  So it has gone from Drabby to Shabby.

My parents have recently relocated here from the good ol State of Kentucky.  And believe it or not they purchased their house on Kentucky Derby Drive.  Go figure.  Most of my love for old things comes from my mother.  She can take the oldest ugliest thing and make it look like a treasure.  I like to think I inherited some of that.  She recently purchased a very old cabinet in pretty bad shape.  She loved it.  Now for her and I it looks good the way it is, but my father on the other hand thinks it is Junk.  Word of the day.  Remember it.  Junk is great!   One of the doors on top was broken and I removed it.  It looks great without the top doors.  The back side panel is coming off.  I am taking the cabinet and bringing it here to Tweak it a bit.  She would like it in her kitchen.  So that will be the next project.  Pics will come this weekend,  as soon as I have moved it.  I love it and wish I had found it first.  So stay tuned, lets see how I can transform it to meet my fathers satisfaction.  Hmmmm no easy task there.  Good thing he knows us.

FINALLY!  I get a few minutes to do what i want to do.  :)  So the Deacons Bench is turning out nicely, still have one more to go mind you.  But I really like the color for this one.  The new Valspar spray can looks great and is a tad easier.  But I would recommend buying the trigger nozzle for spray cans.  My fingers are tired.  I do still need to get one more can.  Believe it or not I have used three cans.  I thought that would be enough.  But the more I do the more I will learn how much it takes for certain things.  Anyway, I hope you like the color as much as I do.  I included a snap shot of what it looked like before.  Enjoy!

Here is my starting point for my own website.  LOTS of Tweaking to do on this one.

http://justtweakedit.webs.com/

Who like Shabby Chic? I do.  I have this set of tables, coffee table and two end tables.  Nice heavy tables.  But I hate what they look like.  So I decided some tweaking was in order.  I did some light sanding to get all of the top glossy coat off.  I used my sander but had to do some spots with a block sander.  Not easy on the hands.  I then applied thin layers of paint.  I again used Valspar with a primer in it.  I let it dry between each coat of paint. I did 3 coats on the table.  After it completely dried I went back with  my sander and sanded the spots where the most wear would be, giving it the old worn look.   I am posting the before and after.  I hope you enjoy, while I start work on the other Two.

And this little Item came in with a box lot I purchased at an auction.  I just don't know what it was used for or what it came off from.  If anyone knows speak up.  I really like it though.  It is different and I like different.  I will find a home for it..

This was a lamp I purchased at one very expensive estate sale.  The people that owned the place originally were lovers of Art and Pottery.  So maybe this was art.   I just thought it was neat.  It is an old coffee grinder transformed into a lamp.  Believe it or not they had a 100W bulb in it.  Wow surprised they did not burn it up.  But you will notice from one of the pictures they almost burnt the shade.  Yes the bulb was still in it when I turned it on to see if it work.  But I thought it was a great find for $4.00.
This was a beautiful purchase.  I actually went to an estate sale On a Saturday, and for those of you that don't know, if you go back the next day the items are up to 50% off and they will deal with you.  So I saw this chair sitting in the entrance way the day of the sale.  Mahogany wood with a tapestry seat.  It was in excellent shape.  I decided I did not want to pay their price that day so I waited.  I got there very early the next day and it was still there, so I got the chair for half of what I would have paid for it.  Now trust me you will not always be able to go on the second day of an estate sale and expect something you liked the day before to be there.  But I happened to luck out.  Yay Me!
I had to add another one of my auction finds.  Actually this find was for my mother.  She saw it and I knew she loved it.  So that became a gift.  It is a hand painted bench seat.  The picture really does not do it justice.  It is scenes of the ocean and boats, light houses, etc.  It is really very nice and whoever painted it did a great job.  Just wondering now where she will put it.
I have chosen my paint for one of my Deacon benches that I showed you earlier.  I decided to go with Valspar Outdoor paint.  I think the bench would look great in a garden area or on a front porch.  I chose a olivey green color for the bench.  I love the green colors.  So far so good, now to get to work!
Today I did a bit of scouting around.  I needed a sander for some of my Tweaking Needs.  I went to Lowe's and purchased this orbital sander.  I prefer the orbital over the vibrating sanders.  It is just so much easier to me to use and I have used both.  So my pick for the day and very affordable.  If you plan on some Tweaking of your own you may want to purchase one of these bad boys.  The first use will be on one of the deacon benches I showed you earlier.

I fell in love with this stained glass window I won at the auction.  I don't expect to keep this long I think I already have a buyer for it.  I think it would look great on a front door.
My Auction finds!  Early 19th century childs high ladder back chair.  It has a thatched seat.  In excellent shape.

I have two of these benches that were given to me.  They came from an old church.  I think some tweaking is in order.  Stay tuned for the finished product!!!

I am not real big on pigeons but I loved the frames just the way they are.  But I do love roosters.  I purchased this tapesty rooster remnant and made a new picture that fit my decor.

New Business Cards On Order.  Love that Design. :D

I needed a new entertainment center to hold my 42" TV.  Anything within my budget did not last.  The prefab stuff is just no good.  I had a hutch that I purchased years ago.  I removed one shelf on the top part, filled it with wood filler and added shelves at the bottom to hold the extras.  A coat of primer and some Martha Stewart Dark Brown paint and I had a very affordable and sturdy entertainment center.  It fits in well with the decor.  Love it.
